The annual Ilio DiPaolo Memorial Golf Tournament was held at the Wanakah Country Club Monday June 8th. The annual event has taken place in one form or another for 37 years and was created by the great professional wrestler and restauranteur Ilio DiPaolo.
Proceeds from the tourney go to the Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship Fund and has helped organizations like People Inc, Children’s Hospital and several others.
Rain threatened the 2015 event which featured 38 groups playing a “best ball” scramble, but conditions improved as the afternoon went on. Numerous former and current Buffalo Bills participated in the tournament including Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, Bills great Steve Tasker, Booker Edgerson, Paul Maguire, Ed Rutkowski, Al Bemiller and former Defensive Coach Ted Cottrell. Current Buffalo Bills included Erik Woods, Kraig Urbik and Ritchie Incognito.
The Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship Fund has raised over $900,000 dollars since it’s creation in 1996.
