The Buffalo Sabres and USA Hockey will announce today (Friday) that the 2018 World Junior Championship will be returning to Buffalo. The Sabres and the City of Buffalo, which hosted the tournament in 2011, beat out Pittsburgh and St. Louis to host the tournament again.
The Sabres will also announce that as part of the tournament Team USA will play an outdoor game at Ralph Wilson Stadium, probably against Team Canada. The Ralph was the the site of the first NHL Winter Classic in 2008 between the Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins attracting a crowd of 71,217 fans.
