DON’T GET ME STARTED was looking forward to the NHL lottery to determine how the teams will draft come June of this year. What’s this? I read that The Sabres GM was going to be a “No Show.”
Well, what to you expect. After last season’s display of anger by Murray when the Sabres came in 2nd didn’t sit too well with me or fans. It was not only embarrassing but could have affected Eichel. To his credit, Eichel had a superb season burying Murray’s desire for McDavid.
Fortunately Murray wasn’t there to show his anger Saturday night when the Sabres were “selected” to pick 8th this year. That doesn’t matter to me.
I simply say that the Sabres need a goaltender. This alternate goalie play isn’t going to cut it. You have to have a very effective goaltender who will give you about 65 games. Murray should put on his scouting cap and get a franchise goalie.
Now back to the lottery. I don’t know how you feel about it, but the NHL doesn’t give viewers a true lottery exhibition. All they get is the results. I would rather have the team names put into a big bowl and have a non-hockey person reach in and pick the teams – in front of television cameras. Otherwise many fans will be concerned on how the NHL currently “selects” the teams and their pick positions. You see the NY lotto with all the numbers in the big bowl popping up randomly. That’s the way it should be done by the NHL.
Well…..Tim Murray probably didn’t display his anger publicly when the Sabres will pick 8th while rival Toronto Maple Leafs will get the first pick on Don’t Get Me Started.
