For the second straight game the WNY Thundersnow allowed their opponent to score 135 points as they dropped a 135-107 contest to the Steel City Yellowjackets.
Thundersnow Guard Johnny Marsh led all scorers with 32 points. Marsh had missed the Thundersnow’s previous game at Rochester due to suspension for derogatory comments made towards a league official. After the game Marsh said he was happy with his performance, but upset at the teams defensive effort. “You cant win many games allowing 130 plus points”, Marsh said. Marsh went on to say he would like his team to keep opposing teams to under 100 points in future games. This is something the Thundersnow have not been able to do yet this season.
Steel City Guard Jujuan Franklin scored 26 points including 5 second half three pointers as multiple Yellowjacket players finished in double figures including Tone Reddic 26 points and Billy Dee Williams with 15.
The 28 point defeat tonight was the Thundersnow’s worst so far this season. Two other Thundersnow players who had solid outings were Center Jermaine Sharpe and Guard Isaiah Jefferson who again scored in double figures (19 points, 6 rebounds). Sharpe chipped in 19 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal.
The Thundersnow will try and get things together during their extended road trip which will span the next three games. WNY travels to Elmira February 4th to take on the Eagles and follow that up with trips to New Jersey and Boston before returning home to Niagara Catholic on February 18th for Fan Appreciation night vs. the Rochester Ravens.
The Thundersnow are 5-5 on the season, Steel City notched their ninth win and improve to 9-7. – Adam Evans
