WNY Thundersnow Downed by Atlantic Coast Cardinals 120-113

A poor defensive effort led to a third straight loss for the WNY Thundersnow. The Thundersnow were trying to respond after yesterday’s heartbreaking 113-112 one point home loss to Rochester, in which Guard Jonny Marsh missed the game winning shot at the buzzer. Marsh redeemed himself in this game putting up an impressive 24 points nine rebounds and four rebounds despite the loss.

 

The Cardinals came into this game on a mission. Playing with only 8 men, they took over in the second half scoring 68 points. The Cardinals took advantage of a lax Thundersnow defense and burned WNY with double digit three pointers. Atlantic Coast Forward Darnel Chavis registered 31 points and five three pointers, teammate Scott Sterling also added 31 and had seven three pointers.

 

Some Thundersnow players showed a lot of heart and had productive games. Center Jermaine Sharpe led all Thundersnow scorers with 26 points, he also added 18 rebounds. Forwards Anthony Greene (22 points, 4 assists, 2 steals) and Chuck Brundidge (13 points, 19 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal) both had solid efforts. Bench player Derek Cauley chipped in with 11 points including three three pointers.

 

The Thundersnow will look to rebound on the road next Saturday when they take on the Eagles in Elmira. WNY had success in Elmira last time they played their winning a thrilling overtime contest earlier this month. Four games remain in the regular season, next Sunday the team welcomes the Sallisbury (Maryland) Bulldogs to town. It is the regular season finale for the Thundersnow.
