The 2024 Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship dinner was held Tuesday night, May 21st at Ilio DiPaolo’s Restaurant in Blasdell. It was another great night for western New York high school wrestling as the top senior high school grapplers who excelled on the mat, in the classroom and in their community were honored.
The 2024 Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship winner is Cameron Catrabone from Williamsville North. The two time New York State Champion is headed to Michigan to wrestle for the Wolverines.
The Gary Castanza Award recipient is Gage LaPlante from St. Francis. The Destroyer Award winner is Matt Trim from Maple Grove. The Cauliflower Alley Club Award went to Kenji Walters from Southwestern. The Bill Hein Award winner was Austin Zimmerman from St. Joseph’s. The Knuutila Family Award winner is Neves Ferraro Hoose from Southwestern and the Harrison Phillips Award winner is Jack MacDonald from Orchard Park.
The Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship Fund was created in 1996 after Ilio’s passing and has raised over 1.3 million dollars for scholarships for senior wrestlers and multiple charities throughout WNY. #DiPaolo
