The Board of Directors for the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Upstate New York Chapter would like to recognize the following individuals who will be receiving the Lifetime Service Awards from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum at Stillwater, Oklahoma. These honorees were selected for their lifelong contributions to the enhancement of wrestling in New York State and the country.
1. Andy Noel – Director of Athletic at Cornell University and former wrestling coach at Cornell
2. Dr. Pete Capone – Dentist and coach at Johnson City High School – Section IV
3. Joe DeMeo – former coach at University of Albany & Stanford University and founder of the ATWA Club
4. Mark Stephens – coach and wrestling official in Section IV
5. Fred Marcheson – retired Guidance Counselor and coach at Iroquois High School – Section VI
6. Kerwin “Skip” Pine – retired teacher and coach at Kenmore East – Section VI
7. Frank Oliverti – retired educator and coach at Rush-Henrietta Sperry High School – Section V
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum’s goals are to preserve the sport of wrestling’s history, recognize extraordinary individual achievements, and inspire future generations to participate in one of the oldest sports known to man.
All of the above honorees will be honored at the 17th Annual Upstate New York National Wrestling Hall of Fame Ceremony on September 22, 2013 at the Double Tree Hotel in East Syracuse, New York.
