The Buffalo Bills certainly drafted for speed back in April, bring in several players who can burn. You add them to the roster that already has TJ Graham and CJ Spiller and you have yourself 3/4 of a track relay sprint team. So the question is, who is the fastest?
I posed that question to Bills running back Fred Jackson recently on the All Sports WNY show on WBBZ-TV and Fred said he was ready to put up some cash to see just that. However, Fred did have a favorite in mind,” I would go with the guy who has Olympic rings tattooed on his body.” That was a reference to Marquise Goodwin the third round draft pick from Texas who ran a 4.21 at the combine and has been timed in under a 4.20. Goodwin also competed for the U.S in the London Summer Olympics in the long jump although he failed to make the medal round.
The Bills already have CJ Spiller who was timed at 4.28 in his combine time and TJ Graham who has been timed at 4.29 so a race between the three would be very interesting. As a side note the fastest time ever clocked by a Buffalo Bill is Don Beebe who ran a 4.21.
The real question though is who would be the fastest in football pads and running on a grass field. It’s game speed that matters and endurance. Running top speed in the first quarter is one thing, but the ability to break away from defenders in the fourth is the true test.
Hopefully Fred Jackson decides to make camp interesting and puts up a few bucks to see who truly is the fastest Buffalo Bill.
