The Buffalo Bills Defense played inspired football for about 24 minutes keeping Drew Brees and the Saints off the scoreboard despite turnovers and mistakes, but in the end too much too often by Brees in a 35-17 New Orleans victory. Brees with five TD passes and 332 yards and he was the key difference between the two teams.
Thad Lewis fumbled on the Bills very first play from scrimmage, but the Bills defense push the Saints back and a missed field goal kept the Saints off the board.
Two series later Lewis fumbles again, this time while being sacked and Brees throws his first TD pass to Moore for a 7-0 lead.
Buffalo came back to take a 10-7 lead after a Stevie Johnson TD catch and a Carpenter field goal, but the 10-7 lead last for less than a minute. Brees hit Kenny Stills on a 69 TD toss and and New Orleans never looked back.
Thad Lewis played a valiant game getting up after numerous big hits, but he had two fumbles and an interception which were costly.
Fred Jackson started out strong in the first half running the ball, but the Saints stiffened in the second. Jackson did score a TD late in the 4th quarter, but the outcome had been decided.
Buffalo now 3-5 with the vastly improved Kansas City Chiefs coming to the Ralph for a contest on November 3rd.
