Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel
Monday, December 30, 2013
Q: EJ, how would you assess your first season?
A: I would say it was a great season to learn from. Obviously you’re going to have ups and downs as a rookie being a young guy in a new system and things like that. Facing teams for the first time every time, traveling for the first time every time, different cities and things. For me I’m just looking forward to the 2014 season and really just honing in on all the things I did well and the things I didn’t do well and just trying to fix the things I did not do well.
Q: Did you get comfortable as the season progressed in your role as quarterback?
A: Yeah, most definitely. The ins and outs of the weekly preparation going in to games, I felt a lot more comfortable going in to them. Even though the record is 4-6, or my record as a starter from start to finish is 4-6, I think there are at least two or three games that we could’ve won and we put ourselves in position to win and we didn’t. Even though the record is what it is, but I know there’s a lot of things to really take from it and I’m always going to be positive with myself. I’m still a young guy, so I know there is a lot more room for improvement and I expect to improve.
Q: How concerned are you with being called injury prone and how much do you want to show people that you’re not given that you weren’t injury prone at Florida State?
A: Yeah, I think a lot of my injuries of the injuries that I’ve had that have sidelined me have just been misfortunate occurrences in a football game. You’re playing a tough sport and I know I’m a tough guy. Obviously if I could’ve gone out there and played I would have, there’s no question about it. It happens and that’s really all I can say about the injuries. It’s behind me now, get healthy and just come back ready to go.
Q: Where are you now with that knee? Will it need surgery or how long do you expect it to take to be 100 percent?
A: I think it will probably take another week or two and then I’ll be fine. If we had another game this week I’d definitely be playing. That’s where I’m at right now.
Q: So it won’t require any surgery?
A: I’m not sure yet.
Q: Coach has told us they already have a regiment together to strengthen the muscles around your LCL to reduce the risk of injury. What have they told you about that plan?
A: Right, just physical therapy, just strengthen them up. Things I was doing the past two weeks I wasn’t playing, the same things just sticking with it. When I had the right LCL, it was the same thing and now that one feels fine. I have it on my left again and I just have to go through the same process to strengthen it back up.
Q: The end of halves and the end of games, your numbers have been pretty solid in those instances. We’ve seen it also when the game is on the line. How do you maybe string that together where it’s start to finish in the game. What kind of process is involved with that?
A: I think that comes with experience. As I continue to grow and have more maturity in the offense and more maturity as a professional at quarterback, I think all of those things will come full circle. Being able to bring, like you said, the later parts of the game and playing well, bring that to the beginning of the game and get the whole process to work together. I think that just comes with experience.
Q: What was your level of frustration or disappointment to come off the Tampa game which was tough and then you win at Jacksonville. The level of frustration you might have had with yourself knowing that you couldn’t continue on after Jacksonville?
A: Well when I felt my leg not feel good during the first half of the Jacksonville game, in the back of my mind I was saying, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ There’s no reason I was going to come out of that game. I wanted to finish it and I was doing well and we were on a roll, so I finished the game. Like I said it’s just misfortunate, it’s unfortunate and it happens. Just have to work forward, all I can do is control what I can control and that’s just strengthen everything up.
Q: In your own mind, are you more certain now that you can play and become the guy that they need in this league than you were before the season started?
A: I’m very certain. I’ve had some good games and like I said there’s a lot I can take and build from it. I don’t really know who is questioning things, as far as me I’m just continuing to get better and I’m just going to hone in and focus on this offseason and get better.
Q: Can you just comment on the rookie class and the contributions you guys made early and often this year?
A: Well as you can see, the receivers: Marquise and (Robert Woods), Chris Gragg, all three of those guys can be huge threats for our offense for an opposing defense. I think you’ve only seen the small party of what they can do. As we continue to grow in the offense together, I think we’ll really be able to amp a lot of things up.. Obviously on the defensive side, a guy like Kiko and Nickell, they’ve done a great job, they’ve had awesome years. Our whole defense has done a great job for us as a team, and it’s a team game. Offense and defense both have to play well. Sometimes they weren’t playing as well and sometimes we weren’t playing as well so they picked up the weight for us. I think as a unit, we have a lot of young guys, and especially our rookie class, I think we’ll just continue to help our whole team.
Q: You said if there was a game next weekend you would play, but in the next sentence you didn’t rule out offseason surgery. Why is there that disconnect?
A: I think it’s just a decision I have to make. Guys have played with injuries that may have required surgery in the long run just depending on how the situation is within the season.
Q: So that’s something that the team’s training staff has presented to you as an option?
A: Definitely. When you’ve had the injuries I’ve had, there’s always surgical things you can do to prepare it, and there’s also ways, if you just get rest and certain things like that it might repair itself, so I just have to make that decision.
Q: Did you guys know about the LCL?
A: Yep.
Q: And they would just repair that?
A: Yes.
Q: Is that in the left knee that you hurt recently or the right knee?
A: The left.
Q: If you went (for surgery), this wouldn’t be a long surgery right?
A: No, even it if is, it won’t be a long procedure, no sir.
Q: Do you think this offense needs a big, tall, strong receiver?
A: I think our offense is good. I think we have some great pieces to continue to grow. I think that’s the biggest thing with our offense, we have to continue to grow in what coach Hackett wants us to do and what he wants us to execute, but obviously when you have big targets, we have some big tight ends as well. I think those guys can be split out wide to make big catches. Scott Chandler and Lee Smith have done a great job, same as Chris Gragg, and Tony (Moeaki) is going to do a great job for us next year as well. I think that’s a personnel decision you have to ask one of the coaches.
Q: Outside of consistency, what is the single most important thing you need to work on this offseason?
A: I think it’s just overall, looking at the things that I didn’t do well this past season. I’m not going to dwell on all the bad, because I have done things good and I’ve helped us win games and good situations, but I think as a quarterback and as a young quarterback, there’s a lot of room for improvement, whether I had a great year or whether I didn’t. So I think overall, just the accuracy and I think with that the better understanding of going against these defenses and even better understanding of what we’re doing on offense.
Q: Things like footwork, poise in the pocket, things like that?
A: Yeah, all of those things, it’s kind of unsaid. As a quarterback, you know those are the things you have to work on. You’re going to do drops, you’re going to do evasion drills and things like that, but I think the biggest thing for me is just to sit down in that film room and go at it mentally.
Q: In May or April, right after the draft, you came here and were confident that you would be the guy that would help turn this franchise around. Can you reflect on those thoughts and how far or close you might be?
A: I think we’re very close. If you go back and look at the games that we lost, I think it really only three games that we were just out of it. Outside of that, I think the other games we had chances to go out there and win and put ourselves in a position to win the game. As a leader and as a quarterback, I’m still as confident as I was back then. It’s my first year and I’m looking forward to my sophomore year.
Q: Do you enter this offseason with the mentality that you’re embedded as the starting quarterback?
A: I think in this league you always have to keep that edge to yourself, knowing that somebody is always coming for your job. With the season that we’ve had, I don’t feel like I can just sit here and be comfortable. Changes are going to be made all the time, so I know for me, personally, I’m going to always continue to work hard and make sure I’m ready to go. I do know I’m the leader and the quarterback right now of this team, so with that being said, I’m going to continue to work hard.
Q: Has Doug Marrone told you that you’re going to be the starter next year?
A: Yes.
Q: Will you be throwing with a quarterback coach down there or anybody in the offseason?
A: I don’t know yet.

Q: Can you reflect on the season for us?
A: Disappointing. Really to just recap the whole year, it’s a disappointing year. We’re not going to the playoffs so there’s really nothing positive that we can really say about that because that was our goal was to win more games and obviously get to the playoffs. We just kind of have to look back on this season, see what we did wrong, and just try to improve in those areas.
Q: What about for you personally? It seems like this ended up a great fit for you.
A: Yeah, but we still want to get the wins, so I just have to find a way to help the team better, help the team improve in the wins department. If that means getting more reps in the special teams department, I mean really just doing my part. However we can get a win, that’s what we’re all going for in this locker room.
Q: What did this coaching staff do for you to get your career going again?
A: They let me play. They let me see the field. That was probably the biggest thing. I think that’s probably the most snaps I’ve had in my entire career in the NFL. When I was able to kind of get out there on the field, I was able to just kind of just go and just have fun.
Q: Could you have envisioned a better fit the way things played out for you personally?
A: Probably not. I knew that they were going to allow me to play early on in the year. To predict everything that happened, no I probably wouldn’t have been able to predict (that) necessarily at all. It was fun, but I definitely want to win football games. That’s what we’re here for. Individual stats are cool, but the ‘W’ at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.
Q: When you think about the move this front office made to acquire you, to make them look good on making that move, is there some reward in that?
A: Definitely. It’s a huge confidence boost on my part. To have someone come out and seek me for a trade and then tell me when I get here they’re going to allow me to play. And to actually see that through throughout the entire season is definitely a huge confidence boost for me to allow me to kind of just get on the field and just do what I’m able to do.

Q: Are you pretty pleased with the outcome this season at least personally?
A: Obviously anyway I can help the team contribute, put points on the board. Points are hard to come by in this league, so anytime we’re close enough to get points it’s an opportunity I’m happy to go out there and help.
Q: Kickers and punters move a lot in the NFL. Can you speak to the position you feel you’ve put yourself after this season?
A: Obviously this is the best year of my career so far. I’m excited to see what happens going forward, haven’t really thought about it yet too much. Just trying to help this team win as many games as it could this year and I’ll see where it goes from there.
Q: So are you keeping your options open and would you come back here if the situation was right?
A: I’m open to anywhere. Like I said I haven’t even spoke with my agent yet about it. My wife are going to sit down and have a talk after we start finding out what’s going to happen and we’re going to make the best decision for my playing days and also our family.

Q: How far do you think you guys have come since last year?
A: Not as far as we wanted to. I definitely think there are things going in the right direction. We’ve had a lot of change internally, some things that we wanted to get turned around, but we didn’t get to our goal. Obviously a lot of people are disappointed in that, we’re disappointed in it. This isn’t where we wanted to be at this time of the year. We’ve got to keep working though and that’s what we will do. The only thing we can do is show up. Even this offseason get ready to put the work in. Doug (Marrone) said it yesterday; they’re going to start working on 2014 tomorrow, so that’s what we have to do as players as well. To get this thing turned around that’s what it’s going to take for us to do it.
Q: If you look at the record and the fact that you’ve missed the playoffs for the 14th straight year, it seems like it’s the same direction. Can you clarify why you think the team is going in the right direction?
A: Yeah, if you look at our record at the surface it’s the exact same team. If you watched us compete throughout this season, we were in every game. We showed up, we competed and that’s what we have to continue to do. We’ve got to be consistent. There are times that we didn’t play as well as we wanted to and we’ll get that taken care of. If you watched us play this year, you’ll know that we’re not the same team that we’ve been. We didn’t get blown out every time we stepped on the field. There are no moral victories, we know that. We know that for us to be relevant we have to win more football games and by no means am I condoning what we did this season and saying that we’re satisfied with the way things turned out this year because we’re not. We’re just as frustrated as anybody else. We’ll continue to work at it and continue to come out and strive to get better as a team.
Q: Is quarterback play where the biggest gains and strides have to be made on the offensive side of the ball?
A: Well I think so. To be a successful offense you’ve got to have a great guy at the helm and we’ve got one that we think can be great. We’ve got two guys in Thaddeus (Lewis) as well, he played well for us. Between him and EJ (Manuel), those guys are going to continue to get better and the better they get, the better we’ll get as an offensive unit. We’ve got to continue to be better in the running game. That’s something we want to do, take a lot of pressure off those guys. To be consistent at that quarterback position is going to be tremendous for us and it’s going to allow our offense to flourish. I know those guys are looking forward to getting started. Bettering themselves and being able to put us in better positions to win football games.

Q: What are your thoughts on this team?
A: I feel like this team this year is a lot different than in the past. I feel like we’ve got a lot of momentum going forward and we’re looking forward to the future.
Q: The future for you is a little undecided with your contract situation. How are you looking at it based on the role you had in this defense?
A: I’m excited about it. It’s my first time going through this whole process. I’m going to listen to my older guys on the team and just get an understanding of the whole process and go from there.

Q: I know returning to Buffalo was a great, wonderful opportunity for you and one that you really cherished. Have you given a lot of thought as to how much longer you plan on playing?
A: I would love to continue my career, and I’d obviously love to continue it here in Buffalo. I’m thrilled to be back. The way the community opened their arms and kind of wrapped them around me as well as the organization and my teammates. It’s been a great experience, and these guys make me feel young, that’s for sure. I’m having a lot of fun. I think the organization is going in the right direction, I’m excited with what Coach Marrone is doing and I’m excited with this team, so I’d love to be a part of it moving forward.
Q: Have you had any of those discussions yet?
A: No not yet, but hopefully and we’ll just see how things play out. I feel like I’m kicking as good as I ever have and the body feels good. Like I said, I feel young and ready to roll.
Q: You have a good relationship with your snapper and you’re comfortable with the organization. How much weight does all of that carry?
A: It carries a lot of weight. Obviously I feel comfortable here in this locker room, but then just having Garrison as a snapper. We work together in the offseason a lot, we worked together last offseason, so it’s something that being able to come in to training camp and be ready and be comfortable with him, that’s definitely a plus.
Q: How would you size up this season special teams-wise considering the numbers weren’t great in some of the return areas?
A: Yeah, that’s one of the things that obviously we’ll probably look at throughout the offseason and continue to get better. The schemes that Coach Crossman has going in I think are very effective and obviously we take a lot of pride in that and we’ll continue to improve on that as we go.

Q: Was your rookie year maybe a little bit better than what you expected, or about what you expected for you personally?
A: Yeah, I think I did better than what I expected. First season, not knowing what to really expect at all, just out there really just playing, getting a feel for everything in the beginning and after that your just rolling after that. Just trying to make plays and get your hands on the ball. Just trying to do something real special.
Q: So you feel like you’ve started to make a name for yourself and establish yourself a little bit?
A: Yeah, it’s all a process. Just starting off my rookie season, taking one year at a time, one day at a time. Just being patient, just still learning. I still have a long way to go and I’m just going to keep working.
Q: Team-wise, how frustrating is it to be where you guys are?
A: The record can be what it is, but at the end of the day, I feel like we did a great job this season. Despite all the adversity we went through as far as injuries and sometimes we had quarterback issues, but we’re going to still get over that in next year we’re just going to start off with a good tone.
Q: How much different is this off season going to be for you?
A: It’s going to be very important. It’s my first off season, so I have to make sure that I’m staying on top of everything that I’m supposed to do as far as working out. I’ll be taking a few classes over this next break right here, coming into January, so I have a lot to look forward to. Just looking to get bigger, stronger and faster like always and come into OTAs ready to go, in shape ready to run.
RB C.J. Spiller

Q: How do you feel about your role in Nathaniel Hackett’s offense after a year in it?
A: I thought it was great. I was able to carry the ball and we did different things to try to involve me in the passing game. Overall I thought it was a good year. From outside in you guys would probably say ti was down because of the numbers, but when you get a new system to try to get accustomed to it as quickly as you have to, I thought I did a pretty good job of that.
Q: How much did the injury hamper you?
A: It had a big effect on how I play because I was in and out of games. Really wasn’t myself until late in the season. Now I finally get some rest and let it heal as much as it can and then come back next year and really try to explode.
Q: You said before the season that you set goals each year and you don’t share them until after the season. Now that we’ve reached that, did you accomplish your goals?
A: No. I was way down.
Q: What were they?
A: 1,500 (yards), 15 TDs and six yards a carry.
Q: How disappointing is that?
A: I wouldn’t say it’s disappointing because I’ll always have high expectations and I’m always going to shoot for the moon because in case I miss the moon I can fall on the stars. The last one was the Super Bowl and we didn’t get it. That’s the disappointing part; this is my fourth year here and my fourth time going home early. That’s the frustrating part especially when you’re sitting around watching Wild Card games and looking at some of the teams that you’re saying, ‘Man I know we can beat those guys.’ That’s the frustrating part. The personal stuff, it’ll come. It didn’t come this year, but I know in my heart it will come sooner than later.
Q: What do you think the difference is between 6-10 and 10-6?
A: Playoffs.
Q: What separated you guys from getting there?
A: It’s the NFL. Things go your way and things don’t. Just had a couple games that kind of just slipped out of our hands that we had right there. That’s something that we have to try to learn, especially as an offense side. Being such young talent on that side of the ball we just have to learn just to stay focused, maintain and just try to go out there and execute. We’ll get it together. I mean it’s year one, I know it’s disappointing that we’re not in the playoffs, but you can definitely see the abilities that we can have once we put everything together. We saw it yesterday when we got the running game going, everything really opened up and it’s hard for teams to really stop us.
Q: Walking out the door today, do you know in your mind what your role in this offense is?
A: I do. I don’t have any concerns or any doubts what my role will be. I think we just had an obstacle in the road when I got injured in week four. It kind of hindered some of the things that we were able to do with me. Like I said, when you keep coming in and out of games, it’s hard to really get a guy going like that. Just like EJ said, all I can do is focus on getting my healthy ready and come back next year and be ready to go. I know Coach Hackett and Coach Wheatley do a great job of communicating, telling me what I need to do and what I need to work on and I’m definitely looking forward to it.
Q: Particularly in the passing game, is that something you will particularly look to improve upon next year?
A: Yeah, I mean any time you can try to get the ball and try to help your team win, you always want to do that. This was the first year in the offense, so we’ll go back and look at some things, see what we can do, bounce ideas off each other. Try to see if we can split me out wide and do certain stuff. If we’re able to do that that’s fine, but if not, I can’t sit around and pout about it. I have to just do what’s asked of me and first and foremost I have to run the ball effectively and then we’ll get the passing game going. We have so many weapons on offense, it’s just crazy (compared to) what we’ve had in previous years, so that’s one of the reasons why I’m not going to have as many passing yards because of what we have in the receiving room.
Q: Do you feel like expectations were higher for you this year as opposed to past seasons, especially considering what coach Hackett said during training camp about giving you the ball until you throw up?
A: Nobody can ever put any higher expectations on me than what I put on myself. Everybody was talking, you know, 2,000 (yards), I already had a goal in my mind what I wanted to do individually as a player. I was just letting you guys speak this stuff and I was making all the fantasy owners mad and happy at the same time. I’m definitely looking forward to coming back and really exploding in this offense.
Q: Did you guys know that we needed to talk to you before you left the stadium? Who told you and did you not know that we would want to talk to you guys?
A: I was trying to catch a flight to be honest with you. I have my daughter up here and trying to get her back down south so she can get ready for school, and I ended up missing it. I mean I usually meet with you guys, but just time restraints kind of forced me to set aside and really put what mattered and that’s my family first, but I guess it worked out best for me to come back.
Q: Would you ever consider asking for a trade?
A: A trade? No. I have no reason to.
Q: You’re satisfied with your role here?
A: Yeah, satisfied. I don’t have any bad feelings with this organization with Russ (Brandon) or with Doug Whaley. I like Coach Marrone and Coach Wheatley so I have no reason to go anywhere else. That’s stuff that I can’t control, but I wouldn’t go up there and ask for one.

Q: Do you feel good about the offensive line going into next year?
A: Yeah. I think we did well rushing the ball and we have a good offensive line. Hopefully we’re back next year.
Q: Do you anticipate any changes up front?
A: I haven’t even thought about it, no. I have no idea.
Q: You heard Kyle (Williams) say this doesn’t feel like a team that finished 6-10. What are your thoughts on that?
A: Like I said, it doesn’t have the same feel, but it doesn’t really matter how it feels. We’re still 6-10 at the end of the day, and it doesn’t really matter. We have to be better than this.

Q: Can you reflect on the season personally but also as a team as well?
A: Personally, I feel like a completely different side, completely different player than the last couple of years. I feel like I’m back to my old self. Team-wise, I feel like we improved from last year, but at the same time we didn’t make the playoffs. But we have improved in numbers, and we’re definitely going in the right direction.
Q: That seems to be the consensus. You guys feel like you could be better, should be better and it will be better…
A: It definitely should have been better and it will be better. Next year, we have a high standard for ourselves, and we know that 6-10 record should have been 10-6 or 12-4, whatever, it shouldn’t have been 6-10. We’re going to carry that with a chip on our shoulders for the offseason and come back at minicamp and do better.
Q: Can you talk about the promise of this defense and the strides it made this year?
A: As far as numbers went, extremely high.. I think we were second in picks, second in sacks, tenth overall in the league as far as overall defense, so that’s a huge accomplishment. But at the same time, we have to do a lot better at not causing so many big plays and putting less points on the board and causing more turnovers. We’re going to have more goals and hopefully come back stronger.

Q: What is the feeling after this (season), especially coming after this loss?
A: It’s not the way that I think any of us wanted to end the year. I think for me, I feel like defensively, we let our offense down. They put us back in the game time and time again and we let them down. I think in the first half they did some things, took advantage of what we were doing. We made some good adjustments. I thought we kind of shored it up in the second half until the last drive. Like I said, I think that we let our offense down because they kept putting us back in the game and that’s on us.
Q: Big picture wise, this must get incredibly old, right?
A: Yeah, but I can honestly tell you that looking ahead, I feel good about it. I think that we have some good pieces in place. I think that what we’re doing, especially defensively, I felt good about. We’ll continue to add guys like teams always do through free agency or the draft, whether that’s on offense or defense. Guys will get another year in what we’re doing, a little more experience, and I feel good about the direction we’re headed. Now, that doesn’t say that we don’t have a lot of work to do, because we do, but the good thing is we have a long offseason, we have a bitter pill to swallow headed into that off season, and hopefully that’ll prod a little bit.
Q: Is the team different? Is this any different this time?
A: Well, I think that depends on how you want to look at it. I think especially from the outside looking in it doesn’t seem different, but I think if you take a close look at it, the way that we’ve played has been a little bit different. The plays that we’ve made have been a little bit different, we’ve been more aggressive, we’ve played better on defense, we’ve run the ball really well. There’s a lot of things that you have to deal with in and out of the season, and I think if we can get over some of those things, from here, being around a lot of it like you said, just kind of evaluating where we are now as compared to in the past, I do. I feel like it’s different. I feel like we’re going in a good direction. For me right now, the only thing I can do is say, ‘okay, I have a full offseason in front of me.’ The first time that’s been like that in three years, so I have to think that I’m only going to be that much better, and what can I do to get better? I’ll evaluate it. I’m driving home this week, I like to drive home and just kind of flush it all out. What did I do well? How can I do it better? What did I not do so well, how can I do that better? Hopefully everybody kind of has that attitude of evaluating themselves and seeing what’s going to make us a better football team.

Q: Where is this franchise?
A: Well, hopefully we’re going in the right direction. I feel like we have some pretty good pieces in place, a pretty good core of players to build around now, and I like the direction of our coaching staff.
Q: What is the level of disappointment and encouragement knowing that you believe you’re headed in the right direction but also knowing you were 6-10 this year?
A: I think you said it perfectly. You’re disappointed obviously, you hate to be going home today. But in the same sense, I’m excited about where we’re going with all the young talent on this team and the direction of this franchise.
Q: What are your thoughts on potential offseason changes based on your weekly captains meetings with coach Marrone?
A: Coach Marrone and Doug Whaley and Russ (Brandon), they’ve been pretty candid this year with us. We want guys that want to win and will do whatever it takes to win. I trust those guys to make the right moves in order to get that done.
Q: You talked after the Tampa Bay game about having to reestablish the commitment and accountability of some people in this locker room. Did three weeks do enough to convince you that those people can be stepping in line to where they need to?
A: Yeah. I think this year, we showed at times that when people are willing to do whatever it takes and put in the work, we can be a really good football team. And that’s with a lot of young guys, injuries at key positions. But in the same sense, we showed how bad we can be when we kind of take things for granted. I think moving forward a lot of us learned lessons with that this year and hopefully not have to learn that again.
Q: What were your impressions of EJ Manuel and what has he shown you so far?
A: Unfortunately for EJ, he missed a lot of time. I thought Thad did great stepping in as a backup. But EJ, he’s a hard worker, he’s very mature for his age and I like working with him. I think he’s a good quarterback. Does he need to get better? Yeah. Do we all need to get better? Yeah. And I think he will, because he’s that determined to be good and he’s willing to put in the work.

Q: How’d your rookie year go for you?
A: I think it went pretty well. I had a good start, connected with EJ (Manuel) well and the other receivers. I think we’ve started off something pretty good.
Q: This was a highly touted rookie class and you guys even surpassed some expectations. How hopeful are you to grow with these guys that you came in with?
A: Yeah, I think we’ll grow pretty well. Just coming in as rookies this team let us just play our game that we played in college, no new stress, no added pressure. Allowed us to be comfortable and play our game whether it was offense or defense.
Q: I know you guys have talked a lot this season that you guys have come from winning programs in college. Now that you’ve gone through a losing season in the NFL, talk about turning things around here and what you’ll need to do?
A: Just the attitude. Push forward and try to be better. Sometimes you’ve just got to impose your will, like Fred (Jackson) says all the time. You’ve got to impose your will on your opponent and sometimes you just have to get some of those situations, those key situations to win the game.
