DON’T GET ME STARTED watches the moves of Bills coach Doug Marrone as he’s about to enter his second season as an NFL head coach.
OK, he made a decent hire in Schwartz as defensive coordinator. Certainly, the Bills moves to strengthen the defense have paid off as they have a solid foundation for the future.
But as the defense makes stops, the offense hasn’t been productive. His first buddy, Nate Hackett, from Syracuse U was hired as offensive coordinator, quarterback coach and play caller. I feel that he’s flopped in that position.
Now Marrone fires receivers coach Ike Hilliard. Does he go for NFL coaching experience to fill that role? Nope. Hey, I gotta take care of my Syracuse buddies. Here comes Rob Moore who has never had a coaching job in the NFL. Certainly, he played in the league, but he’ll soon find out that the corners and safeties in the NFL are much faster, stronger, than the college ranks.
We’ll see in the draft how much influence Moore has in convincing Marrone that a receiver should be taken with the 9th pick.
Moore will have his work cut out for him as fans will now be getting impatient with an offense that was predictable last season with Hackett making the calls. Fans are very satisfied with the defense.
I wonder how many Bills fans are calling up Syracuse University’s web site to see what other coaches might become part of the buddy-buddy-system with the Buffalo Bills on Don’t Get Me Started.
