Multiple national outlets are reporting that Buffalo Bills receiver Anquan Boldin has retired from the team. In a statement Boldin made to ESPN the veteran receiver stated: “Football has afforded me a platform throughout my career to have a greater impact on my humanitarian work, and at this time I feel drawn to make the larger fight for human rights a priority,” Boldin said in the statement. ” My life’s purpose is bigger than football.”

Anquan Boldin was the oldest member of the Buffalo Bills squad at 36 and his presence was meant to strengthen an already weakened receiver corp. Boldin signed with the Bills on August 7th and had just one catch for 5 yards in Thursday’s preseason lose to the Philadelphia Eagles.
