PITTSFORD, NY – The Buffalo Bills today announced that the team has signed free agent LB David Hawthorne, TE Jimmay Mundine and LB Brandon Spikes. In accordance with team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Hawthorne originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks in 2008. He has appeared in 111 games with 83 starts in his eight seasons, four each with Seattle and New Orleans. The 6-0, 246 pound TCU product has totaled 595 tackles, 12 sacks, 19 passes defensed and eight interceptions in his career.
Mundine went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft and spent training camp with the New England Patriots before being released. The 6-2, 240 pound Kansas product played in 45 games with 19 starts as a Jayhawk and finished his collegiate career with 86 receptions for 1,082 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Spikes returns to Buffalo after having spent the 2014 season as a Bill. The 6-2, 255 Florida product originally entered the NFL in 2010 as a second round draft pick (62nd overall) by the New England Patriots. In his five seasons, Spikes has played in 67 games with 49 starts and has totaled 340 tackles, two sacks, six forced fumbles and two interceptions.
The Bills also announced that CB Javier Arenas and WR Gary Chambers have been released. In addition, the team announced LB Kevin Reddick has been waived/injured.
