The Buffalo Bills front office and coaching staff will be hunkered down in the “War Room” tonight out at One Bills Drive for the NFL Draft first round. “Buddy Nix will evaluate the players on the board and select the best available when our time comes” is the response by Bills President Russ Brandon when asked if the team will select a quarterback. That is always the answer given, year after year.
Much speculation as to whether the Bills will “reach” for a QB with the 8th overall pick or are they confident either Kolb or Jackson can properly serve as the starting signal caller come the opener? All Sports WNY is looking for a selection of EJ Manuel from Florida State at quarterback if he is there with the 8th pick. They could also trade down, but will not allow Jets to pick QB ahead of them at 13.
One thing is certain, this draft will be the first under the Russ Brandon era and he will look to make his mark. Yes, Buddy Nix is the GM, but you can bet that Ralph Wilson gave Brandon the reigns to see what he can do and that doesn’t mean sitting back and allowing Nix and the football department to make a pick without serious front office feed-back.
Of course new head coach Doug Marrone will have an opinion and the decision to pick a quarterback will an area where he will be sure to weigh in.
Look for constant draft updates right here at All Sports WNY.
