The Buffalo Bills will be announcing this week that they have reached a new stadium naming rights deal with Buffalo-based hat company New Era.
The Bills’ stadium in Orchard Park has been named after Ralph Wilson since 1998 when the team’s naming rights deal with Rich Products expired. Wilson passed away in 2014 and the team was sold later that year.
The team reportedly received the blessing of Mary Wilson, widow of the late owner Ralph Wilson before seeking a naming rights agreement.
The new naming rights agreement will only run over the remainder of the Bills’ seven-year lease with Erie County and according to reports New Era will have the right of first refusal to continue the agreement once the current lease expires in 2022 and if a new stadium is built.
