Buffalo Hall of Fame Broadcaster Bill Mazer, has passed away at the age of 92. Mazer worked in Buffalo for sixteen years in both radio and televison before heading to New York in 1964 at WNBC-AM and had a long run as WNEW-TV’s sports anchor.
Mazer was inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasting Hall of Fame and was also inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. He is also recognized as the host of the first sports talk radio show in history that launched in March of 1964 on WNBC (AM).
Bill Mazer was a fixture doing Buffalo Bison games during the glory days of Offermann Stadium and also did Bison hockey, Niagara basketball and a nightly sportscast at 11:15 on WGR-TV.
Bill Mazer signed off each broadcast with “So long- it’s been a pleasure.”
