Q: Injuries?
A: Scott Berchtold: Coming out of yesterday there was only one injury to report. That’s Duke Williams and he’s going through the concussion protocol right now.
Q: Where do you see Da’Norris Searcy?
A: We hope to have him back as limited on Wednesday?
Q: How familiar are you with the playoff tiebreaker scenarios? Do you pay any attention to them?
A: I don’t.
Q: How do you prevent looking ahead to those scenarios?
A: Because it doesn’t matter if you don’t take care of your own business.
Q: How would evaluate Kyle Orton’s play yesterday?
A: The same as I evaluate everyone on offense. We’ve got to do a better job.
Q: Russ Brandon gave you a huge vote of confidence today. What’s your reaction to him saying that?
A: I appreciate it.
Q: You don’t look happy.
A: I’m busy.
Q: What do you have to do to get Kyle going in the right direction in the offense?
A: We’ve got to protect better, got to run routes better, we’ve got to get a better rhythm, we’ve got to keep the progressions going and we’ve got to make plays.
Q: How would you assess how Seantrel Henderson has developed over the past month?
A: Under-the-radar.
Q: Is there any update on CJ Spiller’s status for this week?
A: He’s cleared, so I’m looking forward to see how he practices during the week.
Q: He’s going to be placed on the active roster?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you anticipate him being able to play?
A: I’d like to see his participation more before we make that decision.
Q: What are the things that you’ve done really well that would allow Russ to give you the vote of confidence?
A: I don’t know.
Q: Are you required to cut someone to bring CJ back to the roster?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you anticipate that move coming today?
A: I think when Doug [Whaley] puts the paperwork in and then it’ll be announced.
Q: How big of a boost might the addition of CJ be?
A: Yeah. He’s a guy that has made plays in the past. Anytime that you can bring back someone that’s a potential playmaker helps.
Q: What do you make of people calling this win the biggest for the Bills in a decade?
A: I haven’t been here for a decade.. I’m just trying to win the next game. I said it yesterday; I just try to win every game. I don’t try to put a label on each win.
Q: How important is it to remind the team not to look past the Raiders?
A: We’ve got a lot of improvement to do. I think that records really don’t mean a lot when you watch the film. Obviously, the Raiders are playing much better than they had been playing. They’re very physical. They’re a team that’s getting better each week. It’ll be a great challenge for us. We’ve got a lot to improve to.
Q: How valuable has Mario Williams been to this team in 2014?
A: He’s one of the pieces of many pieces to that defense. I think that a lot of players are playing at a very, very consistent pace and are having great production. Even though it might not be in the stat category, there’s a lot of things going on where people are taking up two blocks, people are taking up chips, guys schematically are working to get the ball out faster because of our defensive line. Our corners and DBs have been covering well and I think all of that stuff has gone hand-in-hand. When you’re playing that level, you’re going to have a lot of guys on the defensive side playing and Mario is one of those pieces.
Q: It seems that Mario is playing up to that game-changer role?
A: Yeah. He made a couple of plays. He blocked the field goal. He really got in the way of a couple of throws and that made it difficult. Guys like Mario and the guys up front, you’re always banking on one of those guys to make a play when you need it.
Q: Can you speak to the job Stephon Gilmore has done since the bye week?
A: He’s played well. I think, for a little bit, it might have looked like some teams were going at him a little bit. Leodis [McKelvin] was playing at a high level and he was able to get a lot of balls to his side. He was allowed to break of a lot of them up. I think, when that started happening, you just saw him get more and more confidence back. I think that’s he’s playing just like we expected him to play.
Q: Cordy Glenn struggled.
A: He’s struggling. He knows that and we’re working to try to get him back in the form we need him to be productive.
Q: It seems like the offensive line has improved. Are you encouraged?
A: I think we’re up and down and way too inconsistent. There are times that we’ve done a good job. Sometimes it looks like we’re ready to go and then, all of the sudden, it’s like two steps forward and one step back or one step forward and two steps back. We’ve got to get that consistency there.
Q: Is it kind of the same way with Sammy Watkins?
A: Sammy slipped a couple of times on the field yesterday and kind of got out of whack with the two penalties yesterday. That kind of threw things out of whack yesterday.
Q: What does it mean to be in contention?
A: It’s what you work for.
Q: Do you feel that excitement in the community?
A: I hope they do. I’m pretty sheltered from that.
