Kellen Devlin of Amherst high school won his third consecutive NYSPHSAA Div II wrestling championship Saturday defeating Ryan O’Rourke of Adirondack 9-0 at the Times Union Center in Albany. Devlin, who has signed a letter of commitment to wrestle at North Carolina State in the Fall, won three matches to advance to the finals Saturday night, two by major decision and pinned Brandon Gould of Watkins Glen in the semi-finals.
Section Six had three other Div II State Champions with Brad Bihler of Maple Grove winning at 138lbs, Cameron Swick of Barker/Roy-hart at 160lbs and Jake Peru of Falconer at 182lbs.
Bihler defeated Tanner Cook of Central Valley Academy 4-3, Swick defeated Shawn Mosca of Carle Place/Wheatley 4-1 and Peru defeated Ian Chedzoy of Watkins Glenn 5-2.
Other finalists for Section Six were Dakota Gardner of Fredonia, losing 8-3 to Kobe Garrehy of Maine-Endwell and Lyle Grant of Alden, losing by fall to Alex Herringshaw of Holland Patent.
In Division I Section Six had two finalists in Fred Eckles of Lake Shore, losing 19-6 to Vito Arujau of Syosset and Troy Keller of North Tonawanda who dropped a 10-4 decision to Frankie Gissendanner of Penfeld.
