He was the toast of the NHL after the 2010 Winter Olympics, receiving a standing ovation on the normally hostile Pittsburgh Penguins home ice upon his return, but now Ryan Miller is the focus of a possible trade in Buffalo. Sabres fans and media have been speculating for the past week that Miller could be the one to go should the Sabres look to begin rebuilding. What started as a whisper is now a roar.

Ryan Miller has had a love/hate relationship with Sabres fans and his star has diminished the past two seasons. Last year Miller got out to a quick start and then missed several weeks after experiencing concussion like symptoms after a collision with the Bruins Milan Lucic. There was word inside the Sabres that Miller’s symptoms may have had more to do with his dissatisfaction with teammates and their lack of support and the popularity of back-up Jhonas Enroth, but when he returned he regained form the final two months of the season.

Miller’s value within the league has dropped since his Vezina Award winning 2010 season, but he is still considered a solid net-minder and could be valuable in a playoff run. With Enroth’s solid play in his last two outings, Ryan Miller could be ending the season in a visitors jersey and he may not be alone.
