DON’T GET ME STARTED has had enough scrolling the mock draft sites seeing what the Bills will do with the 9th pick in the draft.  Many tell me that my visits to the sites represent an exercise in futility.

The Bills have needs.  Right tackle; tall wide receiver; offensive line depth; Quarterback? There are quite a few players who would have the Bills thrive.

There is one rumor that I hope doesn’t result in the move.  That is the Bills signing QB Sanchez who was let go by the New York Jets.  In the last few years, Sanchez couldn’t even hold the clip-board on the sidelines after his first two seasons.

Then these beady little eyes noticed one site that saw the Bills picking 4th in the draft.  That came about when the rumor started to float that the Bills traded their first and third round picks in the 2014 draft plus a third rounder in 2015 for the right to pick 4th.  That’s a lot to move up 5 slots but it would pay big dividends.

WOW.

Let’s assume the first three picks will be QB Bortles to Houston; Jadevon Clowney DE going 2nd and Bridgewater going third.  The word is that in the trade with the Brown, Buffalo would go after top offensive tackle Greg Robinson = BUT, BUT, BUT, assuming the trade is made, the Bills could choose at #4 any one of the following players who have top 3 credentials.  Buffalo could pick:

LB KALIL MACK; WR SAMMH WATKINS; QB JOHNNY MANZIEL; OT TACKLE JAKE MATHEWS; Ot TAYLOR LEVRON, TE ERIC EBRON, WR EVANS.

If I was the one picking, there’s no doubt that my choice would be Clemson’s WR Sammy Watkins.  This is a playmaker galore.  Naturally, fans would be screaming for Mack but the Bills already made the move for Spikes in the middle and Alonso to the outside.

It would really put a big problem on the Bills picking crew……a great problem knowing they would pick a difference maker.  Yet, giving up #1 and #3 this year, plus #3 next year means that the Bills would need to have the 2nd round pick fill one of the team’s needs.  In this case, it might seem probable (hopeful) that Ebron at TE and Michigan’s Levron at tackle might slip into the second round.

All of a sudden, the draft will be looked forward to by Bills fans and maybe they would hope that Pettine’s association with Buffalo last year was enough for him to make the deal on Don’t Get Me Started.
